Ball of foot pain

ball-of-foot-pain

The scientific name for most ball of foot pain is metatarsalgia, because it’s caused by an injury, inflammation or abnormality of the metatarsal bones – the ones that connect to your toe bones (or phalanges). It can be cause by arthritis, by the structure of the foot or thinning of the fatty tissue that absorbs the shock as you walk or run.

At Footpoint Podiatry we see a wide range of problems associated with pain in the ball of the foot. These problems include bunions, soft tissue problems, bursitis, plantar plate injury, stress fractures, capsulitis (an inflammation of    the joint ligaments) and neuroma (an inflamed nerve in the foot).
